چکیده
LIEUTENANT-COLONEL, I.M.S. Commanding Officer, Indian Military Hospital Nasirabad Owing perhaps to the unsatisfactory results of fumigation and spraying, measures for dealing with the adult mosquito in anti-malarial work have tended to become more defensive than offensive. The War Office report on the health of the army for the year 1931, page 111, under the heading anti-malarial measures reads as follows :

Trapping and Interpreting Captures of Stored Grain Insects
This chapter provides an overview of insect trapping and interpretation of trap captures for stored-product protection in bulk grain, food processing, and retail environments. The use of traps for detection, monitoring, and population estimation requires considerable knowledge of insect biology and appropriate trap use. Trap use is essential for development of meaningful integrated pest managem...
متن کاملInvestigation on mycoflora of poultry breeding houses’ air and studying the efficacy of spraying and fumigation on inactivating the airspora
Background: A common concern of the poultry industry is the presence of fungal pathogens in the birds’ environment, which may constitute a considerable health hazard to the birds, farmers, and those living in proximity of the farm. OBJECTIVES: The aims of this study were to assess the mycoflora in the indoor and outdoor environments of poultry breeding houses and studying the efficacy of disinf...
متن کاملEfficacy of Australian quarantine procedures against the mosquito Aedes aegypti.
Methods employed by Australian quarantine officers to control Aedes mosquitoes in containers were tested against all stages of Aedes aegypti. Saltwater emersion killed all larvae but not pupae or eggs that were briefly exposed. Swimming pool chlorine, methyl bromide fumigation, and permethrin (2% active ingredient) spray provided 100% mortality of eggs, larvae, and pupae. Aerosol sprays incorpo...
متن کاملA Novel Strategy for Pocket Gopher Control
Current techniques for the control of pocket gophers use traps, fumigants or toxic baits. Trapping and fumigation are labor intensive and seldom effective in giving more than short-term relief. Toxic baiting usually uses baits that are rapidly degraded and although the resident gopher may be killed the burrow system is frequently reoccupied very rapidly and little long-term control is achieved....
متن کاملLong-term monitoring of Tribolium castaneum in two flour mills: seasonal patterns and impact of fumigation.
Data from long-term Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) pheromone trapping programs in two flour mills was used to evaluate the impact of structural fumigations (n = 23) on pest populations. The two mills differed in mean number of beetles captured and proportion of traps with captures of one or more beetles, but in one of the mills the mean number of beetles captured was reduced after implementing a ...
